Spikenard is scientifically known as Nardostachy jatamansi an aromatic plant, belongs to Valerian family. Spikenard is a flowering plant and has pungent rhizome root which grows in the Himalayas, India, China and Nepal. Spikenard essential oil has many medicinal benefits and used in aromatherapy as well.

Extraction: Spikenard oil is extracted from dried or crushed roots through steam distillation method.

Properties: Spikenard essential oil has musty aroma and it is golden yellow in colour.

Composition: The main components of Spikenard essential oil are bornyl acetate, valeranone, jonon, tatramenthyloxantricylodecanol, menthylthymyl ether and 1, 8 cineol.

Blending: Spikenard essential oil is well mixes with other essential oil such as frankincense, lavender, myrrh, orange, petit grain, rose, juniper, patchouli, palmarosa, cypress, lemon, pine, citrus, clove, lavender, neroli, geranium and sage.

Uses:
