side mounted level switch is a point level sensor installed horizontally on the side wall of a tank or vessel to detect liquid level at a fixed point.
Working principle
Most side-mounted switches are float-type (magnetic):
A float is attached to a pivoted arm inside the tank
The float contains a permanent magnet
As liquid level rises or falls the float moves up/down
The magnet approaches a reed switch / microswitch inside the housing
This triggers an ON/OFF electrical signal

It is a level detection device where:
A float rises and falls with liquid
Movement activates an internal switch (usually magnetic reed type)
It gives an ON/OFF output for control

rotary paddle level switch is an industrial level sensor used to detect the presence (or absence) of solid materials like powders, grains, pellets, or bulk solids inside bins, silos, or hoppers.
It works as a point level detector (not continuous measurement). It tells you:
Material has reached this level (High level)
Material has fallen below this level (Low level)
Working principle (simple)
A motor rotates a paddle (blade) inside the container
When there is no material, the paddle spins freely
When material covers the paddle, rotation is blocked
This triggers a switch signal (ON/OFF alarm or control)
Once the material level drops, the paddle rotates again and resets automatically

A cable float switch consists of:
A floating body (usually plastic)
A cable with a weight
An internal switch mechanism (like a ball or mercury-free contact)
How it works
The float sits on the surface of the liquid.
As the water level rises or falls, the float tilts.
This tilt activates an internal switch, which:
Turns ON a pump (when water is high), or
Turns OFF a pump (when water is low)
Types of operation
Normally Open (NO) closes circuit when level rises
Normally Closed (NC) opens circuit when level rises
Can be wired for:
