Our product range contains a wide range of Heating Mantles
The Shital heating mantles are manufactured with heating surface which are resilient and can hug the flasks to take several size or multi size flasks in the same mantle as indicated in the table below. The size of 10 liters have two heating circuits and the size of 20 Ltrs have 3 heating circuits. When heating a small flask or when the contents of the flask are low, the upper heating circuits can be switched off by a switch or switches provided on the outer metal case.
In the initial stages of heating, the heating surface will become brown or black with the evolution of some fumes owing to the burning out of size for emulsion used in weaving the fiber glass yarn. On continued use the color will fade and disappear, no more fumes being evolved.
The mantle should not normally be operated without a load in the form of a flask with contents as this may give rise to over heating. A maximum temperature of 400 c can be achieved with these mantles.
The energy regulator incorporates a bi-metal switch and a timing mechanism to operate it in such a way that the on and off periods can be varied continuously from full on to full off, thus controlling the energy input over any given interval of time. The dial of the regulator shows 100 divisions marked arbitrarily. To control the tem., turn the knob clockwise and keep the pointer on the 100thmark and when the reading on the thermometer is about(10c) below the desired temperature turn the knob slowly in an anticlockwise direction watching the temperature after each adjustment. Once the temperature stabilizes the dial reading may be recorded for future reference. It must be remembered that the energy regulator is not a thermostat, but controls temperature by regulating the average energy input over a period of time. The appliance temperature requires some time to stabilize. This will happen after the pilot light is on and off a number of times. If after this the correct temperature is not obtained a very slight adjustment may be necessary which may be done by turning the knob clockwise to increase the temperature and anti-clockwise to lower it.
