3A Molecular Sieves

Molecular Sieve Sieve 3A is an alkali alumino silicate. It is the potassium form of the molecular sieve type A and has an effective pore opening of about 3 angstroms (0.3 nm). Typical Chemical Formula : 0.45 K 2 O – 0.55Na 2 O Al2O 3 -2SiO 2 - nH 2 O Applications Molecular Sieves 3A is commonly used for the following applications : Drying of unsaturated hydrocarbons (such as ethylene, propylene & butadiene), cracked gas streams, natural gas where COS minimization is required, methane, ethane and of polar compounds such as methanol and ethanol, 2-Propanol, Acetone, Acetonitrile, Acrylonitrile, Dimethyl Sulfoxide. Static (non regenerative) removal of H2O and volatile organic vapours from gas filled insulating glass units, Sulphur Hexafluoride and from refrigerant gases Molecular Sieve 3A will adsorb molecules with a kinetic diameter of less than 0.3 nm and exclude those larger. Type : Standard 3A Grade is also available in powder form. Regeneration : Molecular Sieve 3A can be regenerated by evacuating or purging, usually at elevated temperatures. The purge gas temperature must be sufficiently high to bring the molecular sieve to a level of 1800C to 2500C, but not exceeding 3000C. Higher temperatures may cause physical degradation of the molecular sieve structure. When used to dry streams containing olefins, a purge at lower temperature is advised to prevent polymerization during regeneration. The degree of regeneration depends on the temperature, pressure and humidity of purge gas, and is a strong factor in affecting product purity. It is possible to dry fluids to less than 0.1 ppm H2O, if adequately regenerated. Typical Chemical Formula : Na 2 O Al 2 O 3 2.5 SiO 2 nH 2 O Applications : Molecular Sieves13X AP Grade is commonly used for the following applications : Concurrent removal of H 2 O and CO 2 from gas and air streams, removal of H 2 S and mercaptans from liquids and hydrocarbon fractions, sweetening of natural gas containing H 2 S, mercaptans & thiophenes, separation of heavy hydrocarbons from natural gas and air, separation of N 2  from O 2 , catalyst bed protection; Static (non regenerative) removal of water and solvent vapours from the inner space of insulating glass units.
