The circuit is used to detect ALCOHOL and Display the percentage in the breath of suspected person on LCD 16x2 Display (AT89C51). Commonly used as Alcohol Detection, their output is used in Analog form (high & low logic) by employing a comparator. This topic explains a way to use the sensor’s output in its original analog form. Thus, along with detecting an alcohol, its exact % can also be obtained. This is achieved by processing the alcohol sensor through an ADC0804 (analog to digital converter). The ADC is calibrated to get almost accurate distance measurement. The measured distance is also displayed on an LCD screen. The ADC0804 and LCD are interfaced with 8051 microcontroller (AT89C51) to perform these operations.
Description : This project mainly consists of three units: a sensor unit, an ADC component and the LCD module. The output voltage level of this alcohol depends upon the analog output of alcohol sensor received by the receiver. The intensity, in turn, depends on the % between the sensor modules. When the alcohol signals lesser, the out will be lesser, and vice versa. The receiver along with a resistor forms a voltage divider whose output is supplied as the input for ADC0804.
A combination of mobile communication and metering is used to get energy meter readings remotely. At the end of every month system will send the readings to the electricity board and the subscriber. The system at the electricity board side will automatically calculate the bill and send it to the subscriber. After verification of bill payment electricity board can cut the connection of unpaid just by sending an SMS to that subscriber’s energy meter. This system can initiate the long billing process, saves papers and time with least man power. The main objective of the project is to develop a GSM based energy meter reading system and load control through SMS. Electricity department sends employees to take meter reading every month, which is an expensive and time consuming job. The proposed project provides a convenient and efficient method to avoid this problem. The electricity department and the user can get the readings of the energy meter of consumers via SMS. The loads can also be controlled by the user of this system via SMS using this project. A microcontroller input is effectively interfaced to a digital energy meter that takes the reading from the energy meter and displays the same on an LCD. The reading of the energy meter is also sent to the control room by an SMS via SIM loaded GSM modem. This GSM modem can also receive commands from the cell phone to control the owner’s electrical loads. It uses a standard digital energy meter that delivers output pulses to the microcontroller to perform counting for necessary action. On receiving command it can switch ON/OFF the loads. Further this project can be interfaced with a non volatile memory IC like EEPROM along with a keypad so that the user the change the mobile number as per the requirement.
