The thermometer comprises a length of fine platinum wire of about 2 ohm resistance, wound non-inductively on a mica frame and soldered to stout copper leads. A pair of compensating leads are provided, all four leads being connected to 4mm socket terminals. Since the connection are soft soldered, this resistance thermometer is suitable for temperatures up to about 150oC only and for low termperature work. |
For determination of basal metabolism, by measurement of oxygen consumption. The 6 litre capacity float is fitted with chain compensated counter balance. A thermometer is fitted on the float. Movements of the float are recorded by means of gravity writing ink pen, adjustable by a lever at the bottom.
The recording cylinder 12"x6" is of the lift-off type, and is driven by an electrical unit, giving two speeds viz. one rev. in 20 minutes and one rev. in 4 minutes. Speed is chaneged through a lever.
