Almonds

At present almonds are widely grown in the Mediterranean countries & also in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Morocco and California.

Almonds pair well with any flavor profile and come in more forms than any other tree nut. They contain Vitamin E and magnesium. They have nutritional appeal and are good for heart health.

There are approximately 30 almond varieties produced in California orchards. All California Almonds are developed using traditional methods; genetically modified almond varieties are not planted or available in California. Harvesting starts from August to October.

California Almond varieties are grouped into three broad classifications — Nonpareil, California and Mission. Almonds are considered to be one of the healthiest nuts, loaded with many essential nutrients. Almonds also helps in weight management as they are high in fiber and consuming them as snacks at regular interval keeps the stomach full for a longer period of time. Additionally, it helps in maintaining a stable blood sugar level as it absorbs water during digestion, thereby slowing down the process of stomach being empty and delays glucose absorption. Incorporating almonds into your day to day meal is quite easy as they can be eaten as snacks or to make it more flavourful one can add it to oats, salad or desserts.
