Isolation Transformers

Isolation Transformers are generally composed of primary and secondary windings with a earth shield between the two windings. The Earth Shield provides a path for high frequency common mode noise to flow via capacitive coupling to the earth shield and thus back along the ground then the Transformer will provide the effective protection against spikes.
