Rhinoceros Beetle

Targeted Action :
This product is intended for use as attractant of Rhino beetle ( Oryctes) in Coconut and oil palm Plantations, in order to trap them for monitoring and mass trapping. This is found to reduce the intensity of pest incidence, leading to a reduction in crop damage thereby improving the yields and output quality.

Product Description :
The Active Ingredient blend of Ethyl 4-Methyl Octanoate is a potent aggregation attractant for males and females of beetle. This liquid formulation @ 400 mg is loaded in wood block, which is placed in traps in the field.

Application Protocol :
The trap is to be positioned in such a way that it is half buried in the ground to the level of the side entrances or hung on tree stems at a height of 1-1.5 m. Traps should ideally be placed in shaded areas. Recommended to use one lure of beetle per trap. One beetle lure would last up to 3 months depending upon climatic conditions. The trapping density should be adequate to manage pest infestation. The recommended trap density is 5-10 traps per hectare for mass trapping and 1-2 traps for monitoring.

Packing :
Beetle lure is packed in a metalized triple layer pouch.

Storage and Disposal precautions :

• Store the dispenser away from sunlight in a dry and cool place.
• Do not open the pouch until just before placing it in the trap lure holder.
• The product expiry date is 2 years from production date under good storage conditions and without opening the sealed pouch.
