Washed China Clay is produced by a serried of steps including de-gritting, solid-liquid separation, filtering, and drying. Before processing, it is mixed in water to create pure white slurry. This clay is extensively utilized in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, ceramic, paint, and rubber industries. It can also serve as filler in paper making industry and for electrophoresis coating purposes. China clay is inert to various acids & alkalis and shows great anticorrosive properties. Also known as kaolin, Washed China Clay has neutral pH, easy dispersibility, improved rheology, low hardness to prevent machine wear, and increased brightness.
China Clay is also known as Kaolinite having chemical formula Al2Si2O5(OH)4. It appears as whitish grey colored solid rock which is generally used by pulverizing in fine powdery form. This clay mineral finds application in a number of industries including medical, cosmetics, metal processing, and ceramic. It is considered as one of the purest clay forms having hardness of 2-2.5 on Mohs scale. In pulp & paper industry, China Clay is required to give adequate gloss of different grades of paper. It is known to have ability to provide better mechanical characteristics to rubber.
