Silica Sand finds application in glass manufacturing, water purification, foundry moulding catalysts, and for making heat resistant ceramic products. It primarily contains SiO2 and Al2O3. This sand is also used as proppant for oil & natural gas recovery. Purity of silica sand determines strength, color, and clarity of manufactured glass. It is considered as a prime source for insulation of fiberglass and reinforced glass fibers. Silica Sand is highly appreciated for having extremely high fusion point of about 1, 760 degrees Celsius with low thermal expansion rate. It can also act as a fluxing agent for lowering viscosity & melting point of slags.
