Globe Mine Sadiola Mali is located in west Mali, approximately 170 kilometres by road south-west of the capital city, Bamako. It is an open pit gold mining operation. In summary, as per the feasibility report by Reynolds (1995), exploration in the area commenced in the early 1998’s. Randgold Resources Limited (RRL) acquired the sadiola permit when they acquired BHP Minerals Mali in October 2002. The sadialoa prefeasibility study was completed in 1998 with the final feasibility study completed in February 1999.. Production started on the 4th of October 2000 with first gold being poured on the 18th of the same month. In the first full year of production, 2001, sadiola produced 630,000 ounces of gold at a total cash cost of US$ 103 per ounce. In the second year of production sadialo produced in excess of one million ounces at a total cash cost of US$ 74 per ounce. After a moderate start the company has blossomed into a professional business enterprise under the visionary leadership. Backed by the efficient management of the company, we have reached unimaginable heights of excellence in less than a decade after establishment. We started as localized mining company owned by associations deco operative SADIOLA, with the aim of mining the hills using modern techniques. The company hired villagers for well-paying mining jobs, however soon realized the need of educated miners for operational efficiency. Therefore, we diversified our operations in 2003, by hiring professional miners from different parts of the world.
