A simple cord pendulum with adjustable bobweight is included. This enables the radius of gyration of the compound pendulum and the acceleration due to gravity to be determined A stop watch and ruler are provided.This equipment is part of a range designed to both demonstrate and experimentally confirm basic engineering principles. The pendulum oscillates on a knife edge bracket attached to the wall at a convenient height. A stopwatch and rule are supplied to time the swing of the pendulum and to measure its length. Multi-Pump Trainer Technical Description The represents a closed system for training and experiments that is equipped with all the necessary measuring devices. The test rig is equipped with 4pumps, provision is made for the installation of an additional pump of any type. The pumps fitted comprise 2identical centrifugal pumps with adjustable speed DC shunt wound motors, a self-priming side channel pump with single phase AC motor, and a reciprocating pump with a single phase AC motor. Manometers on the suction and delivery side of the pumps indicate the relevant pressures in the system. The flow is indicated by a water meter. Volumetric flow rate measurement can be made using the stop watch included. The rotational speed of the drive motors is determined using a handheld tachometer. Current and voltage to the drive motors are indicated in easy to read form on the switch box associated with the test rig. The power regulator for controlling the speed of the DC motors is also to be found there. Torque is determined using a torque wrench with gauge; with the aid of the wrench a counter torque is placed on the shafts of the motors installed as pendulum mechanisms, the torque can then be read off. In this way the provides a wide range of measured data that makes it possible to address key problem areas in pump technology. Due to the closed water circuit and supply from an own tank, the test rig is independent of the water mains. This systemis available as the with PC data acquisition.
Test Stand for Control Valves Technical Description Control valves are an essential part of process and chemical engineering. The connection between controller and plant is realised with control valves as actuators. Control valves are usually used to regulate flows of gases or liquids. Optimum control loop design depends on a sound knowledge of control valve behaviour as well as a knowledge of the controlled system's response. This mobile test stand allows to investigate and study control valves of different types. For this purpose the valve is installed in a closed water circuit with a pressure pump and a supply tank. Flow rate and pressure drop across the valve are measured. The trigger signal is generated by potentiometers and indicated on a display. Electrically operated motor valves can be investigated as well as pneumatic control valves. A data acquisition system can be used to record and evaluate characteristics and step responses on a PC
Waltenhofen Pendulum When a massive body made of conductive material moves through a magnetic field, eddy currents are induced. According to Lenzs law, the body is then subjected to a force which is opposed to the cause of the eddy currents, i.e. the motion of the pendulum. The braking action increases with the strength of the magnetic field. If slits are cut into the body, this reduces the generation of the eddy currents.

Disc Centrifuge Technical Description A disc centrifuge can be used to separate mixtures of non-inter-soluble liquids. The emulsion to be separated is prepared in a stirred tank. Water/oil is recommended for use as the emulsion. A stirring machine with a speed control mixes the two liquid phases. In the course of the mixing process the oil droplets are distributed ever more finely in the water. When the droplet sizes are smaller the emulsion remains stable for longer. A pump delivers the emulsion up into the centre of the rotating centrifuge. The emulsion is delivered by way of the distributor base via riser ducts into the disc intermediate chambers. The driving force of the separation process is centrifugal force. It ensures that the specifically heavier liquid particles (water) are drawn more strongly towards the outside than the specifically lighter liquid particles (oil). The settling distance and time are shortened by the disc arrangement set at an oblique angle to the field of acceleration. On the underside of the rotating discs the specifically heavier portion of the emulsion moves downwards and outwards. The lighter portion flows inwards on the top side of the discs. The separated liquids exit the centrifuge by way of outlets and can be collected in tanks. The rotation speed of the centrifuge can be adjusted by way of a potentiometer. A valve is used to adjust the flow rate of the emulsion due to be separated. Various types of stirrer are available to perform the stirring. A photometer is recommended for analysis of the separated fractions. The operating and service instructions form the basis for learning how to perform an extensive range of maintenance and inspection operations on the centrifuge.

Stirred Tank Test Stand Technical Description This demanding test stand is used to perform experiments on a multivariable system often found in practice. In this particular example, the interacting variables temperature and level are to be controlled in a stirred tank. After the heated product leaves the stirred tank, heat is transferred to the feed by a heat exchanger. A pneumatic control valve controls the tank level via product discharge. The double-walled tank is electrically heated. The system has a closed water circuit. The test stand contains high quality instrumentation. The controllers have a Profibus DP interface which allows the test stand to be monitored with optional process control software . This software can also be used to record the process variables and to tune controller parameters via PC.
